DR. DANIEL GALAT

After finishing a master’s degree at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, his medical training at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and an orthopedic surgery residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, Dr. Galat dedicated the first years of his career in Kenya, caring for underserved patients, developing orthopedic surgery training programs, and advancing the specialty of hip and knee replacement surgery. During his time overseas, he performed more than 5,000 cases, many of which were complex hip and knee reconstruction surgeries.

In 2018, he became the first orthopedic surgeon to be board certified with the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons (ABOS) while working in a humanitarian setting.

In 2019, he returned full-time to the U.S. with his wife and 7 children to complete a one-year fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona where he trained extensively with experts in hip and knee Makoplasty surgery and total shoulder replacement, adding to his previous years of experience in complex total joint arthroplasty.

Dr. Galat’s work in Africa is ongoing.  He continues to oversee three orthopedic residency programs he helped establish in Kenya and Ethiopia and plans to return regularly to continue training national surgeons. He kept a blog during his time in Kenya that is full of stories of life and work in Africa.

Dr. Galat believes that a healthy, well-functioning physical body contributes to overall social, emotional and spiritual health, and the pain and disability from arthritis can have a profound impact on this wholistic well-being.  His passion is to bring healing through compassionate surgical care using cutting edge robotic technology so that his patients can get back to living their fullest life.
